National Rescue Ride

EQUINE NATIONAL RESCUE RIDE ‎2008 ‎
SET FOR OCTOBER 19, 2008

On October 19, 2008 thousands of horse lovers across the nation will pull on their boots or lace up their sneakers to ride or walk to raise funds for the horse related charity of their choice.  Similar to walkathons, the National Rescue Ride will bring together thousands of people across the country to demonstrate that abuse, neglect and shipping of horses across the borders for slaughter is unacceptable.  It is the Nation’s biggest effort ever to help horses.

Riders and walkers wishing to participate to support Mustang-Spirit at 13150 Oasis Rd, Pinon Hills, CA  92372 should go to www.nationalrescueride.org to register, pay a $20 fee, print their sponsorship form and start raising money by signing up sponsors for themselves.  There will be a buffet breakfast at check-in, a National Rescue Ride T-shirt for all riders, walkers and prizes for the most money raised.  The day will end with a great feeling of equine camaraderie.

So on Sunday, October 19, 2008, whether in the saddle or in your sneakers, join us to help America’s abused, neglected and unwanted horses by being a part of this great national effort at the National Rescue Ride.

For more information visit the website, call 908-907-1245, email nationalrescueride@yahoo.com or for information on the local ride to benefit Mustang-Spirit call 760-807-7558 or email TaniaBennett@Mustang-Spirit.org

The Chey/Annie Project details

The Chey/Annie Project's mission is to place an emergency sling that is designed for horses in every state. The sling will be housed at a specific rescue in each state to be shared amongst all the rescues in that state as the need arises. The slings will be provided FREE of charge.

No horse should have to be put to sleep because they need a sling to assist them until they can gain weight.

No horse should have to suffer from a sling designed for a cow.

Once we have placed slings in each state, we will work to put slings in every rescue! This way, rescuers and the horses they are trying to help will have immediate access to this life saving device.

This is the sling we are going to purchase with the funds from the Chey/Annie Project. It is manufactured by Wiggins Inc. Their website is www.wigginsinc.com. The sling is called the Adult Horse Sling.
